nice price deal !!! manchester s techno alchemist and master of the roland tr-808, the enigmatic mr.raw, debuting mancdetroit 12� on win or loose records straight outta toronto ca! long term nightclub shaman on the northwest of england circuit, raw served time in rotterdam s early 90s gabba circles before returning back to manchester to twist brain s n bodies with his wild blend of freestyle techno. raw s witnessed trends in production go from hardware to soft and back again but he s never strayed from a solid rack mount set up based solely around the tr-808. with a few added choice fx processors raw s style is loose n live and captures a pure spirit rarely exercised by today s pacified youth. -perseus dance- sounds like the kind of shit the great ron hardy would jam on, with two copies, for hours. inflicting a sherm-stick flavored mind-blast to the floor that may have indeed caused the good man to blush, we find percolating 808 percussion woven together with a mystic, fizzing lead line and twangy analogue artifacts. darkside acid dragged wailing and whining from rusholmes drains. flip and we have -hard on-: a twisted x-rated porno horror jam. raw s rapid-fire double-speed drum loops firing away while a plethora of abhorrent vox and coital sounds converge onto the track. a total wrecking ball of filth and hellish distortion which just smolders away in the basement of some sadistic nightclub like a rotten but highly intoxicating fungus ready to switch on any passing freaks.

detroit techno veteran terrence dixon marks another chapter of his long standing career signing for italian imprint out electronic recordings as population one. after releasing three eps on modularz, 30drop and his own outlet reduction in 2015 under the aformentioned moniker, terrence dixon is going to kick off the new year with two techno, retro-feeling original tracks capturing his typical production take.

first time i heard this track out was d.jing with adrian gibson, booker/manager for the london jazz cafe in its hay day in the early 2000s, i thought it was some crazy obscusre early jacksons 45. i had no idea what it was but i liked it and it stuck with me. as my eyes were on 45 s at the time it passed me by until numero group reissued it on their fabulous soul messengers compilation (essential purchase if you don t own). after quite a bit of badgering rob sevier, co-owner of numero group, let this grace my format of choice, so here we are, both sides first outing as a single.

disco tools 1° moods is the first ep of sampling moods records label. in this first release eddie lays down the defining ingredients of his label: disco-funk samples, distinct rhythms and recordings on tape. assisted by his mentors, eddie sets out to make his mad passion for a particular music (�classics from the paradise garage, the loft sounds and the disco-funk hits) amalgamate with a galvanising rhythmic construction, which is raw and rough.
as a piece of art that touches our mood, sam try to make us rediscover the power and love of the original classics, through the continuous repetition of the samples. the label focus on a specific musical need and want to offer a contemporary garage house, raw and essential interpretation of some rare groove hits and other disco classics. the choice to add only rhythmical scores is due to enhance and exploit the sample itself.

we had no choice but to bring back our friend kiko navarro after the success of the new life ep released on local talk earlier this year. isao is kiko at his finest, a beautiful and hypnotic house track that has the perfect blend of afro and latin elements with a bouncy electronic edge. theres also a mighty fine remix coming from jose marquez. jose develops the vocal elements and brings in a whole orchestra of drums taking the track in a sweatier direction. kiko also delivers a koki dub where he continues on the same vibe and adds strings complimented by shakers and percussions throughout the track.

two slices of brilliant brazilian disco, painel de controle have a few bangers across their rca lps, these two being my favourites. *relax* is a straight up boogie monster, well known to deep disco & boogie heads flipped with *malandrinh* with its insanely catchy guitar. the original brazilian *relax* 7 inch plays at 33rpm (like many brazilian 45s), if you know you are cutting you will know this is not ideal. our new 7 inch is 45rpm and cut from a super crisp new master from the tapes at timmon cutting labs, sounds about 5x better than the o.g. ... simple choice.

this 10 inch contains 2 unreleased vinyl versions in extended mixes that can make your day. the merits of van bonns releases on telrae, trapez and on van bonn records you can find in his new release -unbound-. the attractiveness of repetition has made its way into this ep... and it was a good choice. we kick off with -king-, a track which is a cross breed of a stubborn beat and a dub techno feeling showcasing a melodic intermezzi that flies in and out with a mind of its own. more minimalistic than most of the tracks you know from him, it includes unexpected half baked sounds you would not expect from van bonn. on the other hand the epic 10 minute monster -distinct- is a real dub techno giant and a soundtrack at the same time... with beats that take you by the hand.

larry levans name is synonymous with contemporary dance music culture, his contributions are widely noted in many books and documentaries and in the memories of the lucky people who got to experience his phenomenal dj sets at the now legendary paradise garage in nyc throughout the late 70s until the late 80s. his name is still mentioned with reverence today and he is listed as an influence by countless djs and artists across the world.

constellation andromeda is the new release on modularz featuring spanish artist and mental disorder owner reeko who is also a member of the pole group family whos work has spanned over a decade. reekos debut ep on modularz gives a nice variation of deep and hypnotic textures and grooves that make this a choice example of where the producer is headed.

nobody knows at the beginning of september, myr. is an artist who remains shrouded in mystery. his debut ep nobody knows avalon is set to be released through recognised cologne label pnn on january the 19st, yet as the title suggests, still very little is known about the man behind the music. myr.s wish to withhold information is made obvious through the choice of track names on the ep: nobody knows, avalon and homii are all titles clearly designed to provoke the listeners curiosity, whilst upholding a sense of the enigmatic.

those who have been following the cosmology series from its inception will no doubt be familiar with the ad hoc release schedule and will perhaps have grown accustomed to the diverse range of styles that their eps encompass. each one has trodden a different path in the pursuit of updating pivotal dancefloor memories and cosmology volume four is the most ambitious reworking to date. the choice for this instalments source material is a topical one as the influence here comes from herman sonny blount, better known as the free jazz pioneer sun ra.
